Happy Belated Halloween by Traci "Ulario" Vermeesch

Every year on Halloween I try to do a picture of some of my characters in costume. This year I wasn't able to do a nice full colored picture. Between illustrating a children's book, being sick, and my grandma being in the hospital I simply didn't have the time. However, I was able to whip up this sketch this morning. It's not much... but at least it's something. Agarux Conbadge by Traci "Ulario" Vermeesch

Okay… so I wanted to get back into doing conbadge commissions ‘cuz they’re fun to do and don’t take that long. I am doing a few badges of some of my characters to get back in the swing of things. Agarux, my Space Born character. Before anyone says anything, he is not a anthro wolf, goat, space monkey, etc. Technically he’s not even a furry because he’s not really based on a specific animal. He’s an alien, simple as that. Also… doing some tweaking to my coloring style. Mainly in the addition of the dodge/burn tools as well as adding funky colors to the shadows/highlights. I rather like the results, will probably experament more.

The title is a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, obviously. One of the greatest rock gods of all time IMHO. Taking a break from college to do a pretty picture. Having an exams, two four page papers, and a portfolio due all in the same week is murder. I decided to draw my avatar on Second Life for a change. I'm not 100% happy with how it turned out, but I like it anyways

I love my art history class. It's dark and held in a large lecture room so I can draw without getting in trouble. I've been trying to get away from pin-ups, I've just been getting burned out by them so I'm trying to vary up the poses of my characters. Action shots are more fun then a character sitting around doing nothing anyways. Anyhoo, Soji the eastern dragon yawns and stretches. I've always pictured dragons (particularly Oriental ones) to be very catlike. I tried a parchment background rather then the standard naturalistic ones I usually do. This was done for two reasons. 1. I wanted to see what it looked like and 2. I wasn't coming up with any backgrounds I liked and didn't feel like screwing around with it anymore.
